Key Responsibilities
- Identify, develop, and maintain strong relationships with a network of physical suppliers, refineries, and other trading houses to ensure a reliable and competitive supply of marine fuels, including VLSFO, HSFO, and MGO.
- Actively trade physical bunker fuel, negotiating prices, volumes, and delivery terms to maximize profitability and achieve sales targets.
- Monitor and analyze global and regional oil and bunker market trends, including price movements, supply and demand fundamentals, and competitor activity, to identify trading opportunities and mitigate risks.
- Manage the price and credit risk associated with trading activities, working closely with the risk management and credit teams to ensure compliance with company policies and limits.
- Collaborate with the sales team to understand customer requirements and provide competitive and timely pricing for bunker inquiries.
- Oversee the end-to-end trade lifecycle, from deal capture to final settlement, ensuring smooth and efficient operations. This includes coordinating with operations, logistics, and finance teams to manage nominations, deliveries, and payments.
- Manage the profit and loss (P&L) for your trading book, providing regular reports and analysis to management.
- Ensure all trading activities are conducted in compliance with relevant industry regulations, including IMO 2020, and company policies.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a bunker trading or a closely related role within the oil and gas or shipping industry.
- Proven track record of successful trading and P&L generation.
- In-depth knowledge of the global bunker market, including key players, supply chains, and pricing mechanisms.
- Strong understanding of marine fuel specifications (e.g., ISO 8217) and the technical aspects of bunkering.
- Experience with risk management techniques and trading platforms.
