Key Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, and lead operational, financial, and IT audits of the company's trading activities, including front, middle, and back-office functions.
- Assess the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls over trading operations, risk management, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate key risks in the trading lifecycle, including market risk, credit risk, operational risk, and compliance risk, and provide recommendations for mitigation.
- Conduct audits of trading desks, asset management, and other key business functions to ensure adherence to established policies and procedures.
- Perform SOX compliance testing and coordinate with external auditors to support the annual audit process.
- Manage and develop a team of internal auditors, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
- Prepare clear and concise audit reports with actionable recommendations for presentation to senior management and the Audit Committee.
- Monitor the implementation of audit recommendations and management action plans.
- Utilize data analytics and computer-assisted audit techniques (CAATs) to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of audit procedures.
- Participate in special projects and internal investigations as required.
Qualifications and Experience
We are seeking candidates from one of the following backgrounds:
- Commodities Trading Industry: A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in an internal audit or risk management role within a commodities trading house, with a preference for experience in the energy sector.
- Big 4 Public Accounting: A minimum of 5-7 years of experience as an audit professional in a Big 4 firm, with a significant portion of that time spent auditing clients in the commodities trading industry.
